The new owners of this beautiful stone barn approached us to renovate the last remaining barn in the courtyard. We had previously undertaken an extensive renovation of the main barns in to a low energy family home, and we were keen to be involved in the final stages of the project.
This remaining small barn has been transformed into a studio and wellness space. Great care has been taken to incorporate the form and vernacular of the already converted barns and contribute to their rich architectural heritage. Existing on-site timber cladding and stone has been reused for a low embodied energy construction.
The courtyard garden has been reimagined as a biodiverse and habitat rich haven for butterflies and bees. Swallow nest cups have been installed in the eaves of the barn to enhance the ecological habitat.
