This project involved the transformation and extension of a 1960s bungalow in a fantastic wooded location in the Chiltern Hills outside London. A collaboration with Takero Shimazaki Architects transformed a tired and unloved house into a modern family home. Black paintwork unified the exterior brickwork hiding alterations and additions but also made the house disappear into the shade below the trees. Oak joinery, a stained plywood kitchen and simple finishes allowed for a cost effective rejuvenation. Phase II of the project, a home office, has also recently been completed. Click here to see more.
