This project is a listed 17th century Manor House on a Scheduled Ancient Monument. It’s set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and presented a challenging and complex planning and build process.
The result is a significant reimagining of this incredible historic property. Principle interior spaces were rearranged to enhance the flow of the house and we worked in close collaboration with the client on interior finishes and design.
An unsympathetic addition was made in the late 20th century which obscured the layout and beauty of the original house. It’s been replaced by a light filled, contemporary extension which gives primacy back to the original Manor House. It creates a cohesive kitchen and living space that connects seamlessly with the gardens whilst providing subtle separation from the manor house allowing it to be viewed as a sculptural object.
Sited in beautiful rolling hills, with garden designs by an internationally renowned garden designer, the overall effect harmonises landscape, architecture and interiors.
