We were approached by Akeley District Church Council to provide sketch design ideas for an unheated open ‘pavilion’.
Akeley Church was demolished in the 1970s after a disputed structural survey deemed it unsafe. Ever since then church services have taken place in the village hall. The demolition has left a gaping hole in the centre of the village, not only physically but also socially and spiritually.
The intention would be to use the new ‘pavilion’ for occasional fair weather church services and as a focal point for the centre of the village.
