We have received planning permission for the refurbishment and conversion of a stone barn in a conservation area in to a high quality, sustainable home.
The aim of the project is to sensitively adapt and re-use the now redundant agricultural building in order to ensure its long-term preservation. A key driver of the design process was to respect the existing building, its setting, rural character and location within the conservation area. The building is locally significant and the intention is to retain and conserve its history as a farm building with a viable and sustainable use for the future.
The clients intend to make improvements to the biodiversity of the adjacent paddock through the planting of trees, and hedgerow improvements to the boundary. An attenuation pond will be created as part of a sustainable drainage system.
