We’ve recently received planning permission for an annex to a farmhouse in Devon. The annex forms part of a multi-phased project for the farm and is designed to provide accommodation for ageing members of the family where they can be cared for but with a degree of independence.
It was important to develop a design which was sensitive to the local vernacular and respectful to its environment. The form of the building references a simple agricultural style with a single pitched roof for a familiar modest building, and clad in black corrugated metal.
As is generally the case with our projects the building is designed using a fabric first approach based on Passivhaus principles with triple glazed windows and doors and MVHR as standard.
