This project is one of a few that we’ve worked on at the Graven Hill development near Bicester. Graven Hill enables people to self-build or custom-build their own home, or buy an existing building in one of the country’s most exciting new self-build communities.
The client’s found their plot and approached us to help them with the designs and guide them through the Graven Hill process. We had worked closely with local builders and specialists to ensure the teams involved had a vested interest in delivering a project in the most successful way and to a high standard.
The plot lay in a prominent position demanding a sensitivity and need for a high quality design that would actively enhance its setting. As is standard with our designs, high levels of insulation, MVHR and triple glazed windows were used to create a very low energy building designed to Passivhaus principles. The clients had a design sensibility and were keen to see the ideas they’d collected over the years come to life.
The project started its life with Charlie Luxton Design and was managed on site by our project architect, Trevor when he set up his own practice, Taw Fitzwilliam. Trevor has recently entered the project in to the RIBA South Awards 2024, and we are thrilled to hear it’s been shortlisted.
