We have worked on a few projects at the Graven Hill self build development near Bicester. The development enables people to self-build or custom-build their own home and is one of the country’s most exciting new self-build communities.
The clients had a design sensibility and were keen to be closely involved with the process.Their plot lay in a prominent position which demanded a sensitive and high quality design that would actively enhance its setting. High levels of insulation, MVHR and triple glazed windows were used to create a very low energy building designed to Passivhaus principles.
We worked closely with local builders and specialists to ensure the teams involved had a vested interest in delivering a project to a high standard.
The project started its life with Charlie Luxton Design and was managed on site by our project architect, Trevor when he set up his own practice, Taw Fitzwilliam. Trevor has recently entered the project in to the RIBA South Awards 2024, and we are thrilled to hear it’s been shortlisted.
